AEW Dynamite live results: Kevin Knight vs. Chris Jericho, two Continental Challenge Cup matches

AEW Dynamite is live from The Pearl Theater in Las Vegas tonight on the road to All In.

Two matches in the Continental Challenge Cup will take place as reigning Continental Champion Jon Moxley takes on Jack Perry while former Bullet Club members turned heated rivals Jay White and David Finlay go one-on-one.

The TNT Championship will be on the line as Kevin Knight will defend against Chris Jericho who is looking for his first run with the title.

After defeating Mark Davis in a bloody street fight last week, Will Ospreay will appear.

The number two spot in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In will be on the line in a three-way match between Nick Wayne, Mike Bailey, and MJF.

A growing feud will continue as TBS Champion Maya World teams with Thunder Rosa against Hikaru Shida and Persephone while Kris Statlander takes on Viva Van.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Paul Wight as the music for Will Ospreay hits and he’s welcomed to a huge ovation as he makes his way to the ring.

Ospreay said last week he had the honor of being in Arena Mexico again, the fans knew how to raise him up and lift his spirits. Last year, Ospreay was nervous before the Grand Slam show, but got a text from his mother that his grandad passed away that day, which crushed him, knowing he wouldn’t see him wrestle again or see him marry his beautiful wife. Ospreay knows deep down if he was still here, he’d tell him to stop crying and go do a flip. Realizing no matter what is going on in his life, Ospreay knows he’ll leave every bit of his body in the ring for the fans. Last week, 25 days out of the biggest match of his life, he was in a Mexican Street Fight, which sucked to go through, but one person was at home on his sofa watching, Kenny Omega. He hopes Omega realized Ospreay could truly pull the trigger after that main event. Ospreay knows Omega is backstage to earn his paycheck, so if Michael Nakazawa isn’t trimming his testicles, maybe he can join us?

Don Callis’ music hits and a collective groan is heard from the Vegas crowd. Callis said while Ospreay couldn’t wait to compete in AEW, Callis couldn’t wait to exploit it. Knowing he needed a perfect tool to do just that, he raised a 5-year-old boy into the greatest wrestler in the world, Kenny Omega. In 2020, Callis & Omega screwed Jon Moxley and won the AEW World Title, going on a run unmatched in this company’s history. Then Omega made a critical error, thinking he could do it without Don Callis, so May 10, 2023, he reminded Omega who his real daddy is, stabbing Omega in the face, putting him in the hospital. Callis has done more damage to Omega’s life than diverticulitis ever could. It was around the same time Callis brought Ospreay into AEW, booking him in a match with Omega, when Callis was in his corner. Callis reminded Ospreay when Omega beat Ospreay in New Japan, he was in Omega’s corner. They both owe everything to Callis, while both might think their roads to Wembley is paved with gold, but it’s paved in blood, Ospreay’s blood.

RPG Vice, Jake Doyle & Mark Davis all hit the ring and attack Ospreay from behind, as Callis is screaming to go after the neck. Davis is about to deliver a piledriver, when Kenny Omega’s music hits and he slowly walks out with a pipe in hand. Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta rush up the stage and get clobbered with shots, as Doyle takes one in the ring, as Davis ducked and headed for higher ground. With the ring cleared, Omega stares down at Ospreay and back to the pipe, faking a shot, but pulling back. Omega when Ospreay talks from the heart, he has a way with words, Omega felt that. Problem is, Ospreay wears his heart on his sleeve, but doesn’t think. What did Omega say about Callis or Jon Moxley, all this has made Ospreay a sloppy fool who will lose everything. This isn’t who Omega wants at Wembley (offering his hand to Ospreay, who took it), but hopes Ospreay understands that Omega can’t help him again. Ospreay said he appreciates the help, but didn’t ask for it, nor will he need it again.

MJF vs. Nick Wayne vs. Speedball Mike Bailey for the #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet at All In

(Action-packed opener, as MJF didn’t take too many bumps, but was certainly heavily involved. I thought Wayne again held his own and deserves more time on Dynamite (seriously, where is Mother Wayne?) and Bailey is always going to be one of the biggest babyfaces on the roster. It makes the most sense, obviously, for MJF to win this one and we get the showdown between he & Andrade to kick off the Gauntlet at All In.)

MJF stormed to the ring, choked Justin Roberts in the ropes and demanded he be referred to as the “One True Champion.” Bell sounds and MJF immediately took a powder, taking the headset saying he’s going to let these two twinks battle it out before showing why he’s the One True Champion, calling Schiavone a fat old prick. Lightning quick start from Wayne & Bailey, who have a stalemate. They ramp it back up, as Bailey hit a snap hurricanrana sending Wayne to the outside, but Wayne quickly back in to cut him off with a leaping back elbow. Bailey rolled to the floor, as it’s Wayne to hit the first Tope. Taking too long to pose, Bailey popped Wayne with a pump kick and Triangle moonsault outside. MJF fakes taking off for a dive, but opts to flip off the crowd and ate a Bailey missile dropkick for his troubles. Bailey signaled for Ultimate Weapon on Wayne, but had the legs swept out by MJF, as he tells “the kid” to show him how it’s done, as he barks orders to Wayne to go after the midsection.

They both get in their shots on Bailey, as MJF raises Wayne’s hand, as he told Wayne to do some snazzy move. Wayne hits a standing Sliced Bread, as MJF tries getting the pin, but Wayne broke the count. MJF screamed Wayne is lucky to be in the ring with him, slaps Wayne and ate a thrust kick for that. Wayne & Bailey trade big boots, until Bailey missed a standing Shooting Star, as Wayne hit a Dragon Suplex, missed a Destroyer, allowing Bailey to get the moonsault double knees. MJF cut off Bailey in the ropes, teased Heatseeker, Bailey avoided, MJF baseball slid outside, as Bailey did his springboard moonsault taking out Wayne & MJF heading to break. MJF asked Paul Wight for help, but was told “I’m…umm…busy” as Schiavone told him to step on MJF’s hand, they’re on commercial.

Back from break, Bailey rolls through a Shooting Star Press attempt, but ready for a charging MJF to hit a Collision Course moonsault fall away slam for two. Bailey did the deal, dropping Wayne with a Falcon Arrow and Shooting Star Press to follow for another near fall. Bailey wanted Time Adventure, but Wayne met him with The Prodigy Plex. MJF in, as Wayne pops him in the midsection, thanking the a**hole for the tip earlier. MJF swatted Wayne in mid-air during a Wayne’s World attempt and got powerbombed on the knee, but Bailey flew in with a Shooting Star to break the count. Roundhouse corner kick on Wayne, as Bailey hit Ultimate Weapon, but MJF chucks him outside, quickly applies Salt of the Earth on Wayne, who frantically taps.

Post-match, MJF took the mic saying he told us all what was going to happen, the champ always wins. The champ has never lost a day in his life, as he’s walking into Wembley the Champion and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him. The music for Andrade El Idolo hits, MJF looks shocked and it’s a ruse. MJF asks How You Know Andrade isn’t here is because he whopped his ass last week and he’s a gutless worm. Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay are both terrified of MJF, as they better get down on their hands and knees, praying they don’t have to face MJF, as it’s The Devil talking, sooner or later, they’ll find out the hard way, MJF is the One True Champion.

Match Result: MJF defeated Nick Wayne & Speedball Mike Bailey for the #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet

-Divine Dominion are at The Brawling Birds bar, mocking their challengers for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles at All In. They’ve given them just a taste of what their capable of, so bring your family, friends, husbands, it’ll be their biggest massacre. Cheers to The Birds, they had a good run. Kross & Bayne cheers beers and smash the glasses. They’ll be in action on Collision.

-Mick Foley is in the back with The Bang Bang Gang, as Switchblade Jay White officially welcomes Foley to the Bang Bang Gang. White said since he returned to AEW, The Dogs have seemed to get the best of them since starting all this, but not tonight, he’ll put David Finlay down and hopes Jon Moxley advances so he can beat him as well. Foley joins in on the Gunns Up line.
