After a few slower days (with one even managing to drop below the 200 mark), August 10 takes us back to another big haul of pro wrestling belts changing hands. According to wrestlingdata.com, there have been around 301 major/notable title changes on this day historically.

Some of the bigger changes include Big Van Vader winning the IWGP Heavyweight Title in 1989, Hollywood Hogan winning the WCW Championship in 1996, Chris Jericho winning the WCW World Television Title in 1998 and James Storm & Robert Roode winning the TNA World Tag Team Titles in 2008.

The earliest August 10th entry is from 1953, when Frank Stojack won the NWA World Light Heavyweight Title. In 1989, Naoki Sano won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title and Big Van Vader won the IWGP Heavyweight Title. Irma Águilar and Irma González won the Mexican National Women’s Tag Team Titles in 1990.

1996-1997

Hollywood Hogan won the WCW World Heavyweight Title in 1996. Five titles changed hands in 1997: Shinjiro Otani won the WWF World Light Heavyweight Title, the J-CROWN Octuple Unified Title, the NWA World Welterweight Title, and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title, while Kazuo Yamazaki and Kensuke Sasaki won the IWGP Tag Team Titles.

1998-1999

Three titles changed hands in 1998: Kane and Mankind won the WWF Tag Team Titles, Lex Luger won the WCW United States Heavyweight Title, and Chris Jericho won the WCW World Television Title. Arkángel de la Muerte won the CMLL World Welterweight Title in 1999.

2002

Three WWE Hardcore Title changes took place on August 10th, 2002, under the championship’s 24/7 rule: Tommy Dreamer, Shawn Stasiak, and Steven Richards each held the title on this date.

2003-2008

Christian won the WWE Intercontinental Title in 2003. James Storm and Robert Roode won the TNA World Tag Team Titles in 2008.

2013-2025

The GAORA Television Title was vacated in 2013. In 2021, the CMLL World Trios Titles and the CMLL World Middleweight Title were both vacated. The most recent entry is from 2025, when Atsuki Aoyagi won the AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Title.
