Andrade El Idolo is taking some time to recover.

AEW National Champion Andrade announced on Sunday night that he’ll be briefly stepping away from the ring, saying he will be gone for as long as just a few days to weeks.

Andrade said he has felt unwell since Wednesday, when he worked AEW’s Grand Slam card in Mexico City. On that show, he beat Komander and Tommaso Ciampa in a three-way to secure a #1 entrant spot in AEW’s All In Casino Gauntlet match.

While he wasn’t feeling good, Andrade travelled up to Canada and worked a set of tapings for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro over the weekend. Now that he has that commitment out of the way, though, Andrade says it’s time to relax.

Here’s the update he posted on X:

Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR. I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP. I’ll keep you posted, but I have to be out of action for a few days or weeks. It’s nothing serious, Take care! but… I have one question?

Due to his win at Grand Slam: Mexico, Andrade is expected to appear as part of AEW’s All In pay-per-view on August 30 at Wembley Stadium. The Mexican star has loads of time to recover and prepare until he competes in the Casino Gauntlet match, where the winner will leave with a world title opportunity.
