CM Punk, Liv Morgan Retain, Femi Beats Lesnar (August 1, 2026)

You have been warned!Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam kicks off in Minneapolis, and two of the biggest matches on tonight’s card are listed as co-main events. Cody Rhodes attempts to win back the WWE Undisputed Championship from CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar looks to put an end to the rise of THe Ruler as he faces Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell.

Nick Aldis competes in his very first WWE match against Gunther, and Liv Morgan defends the WWE’s Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY. The Usos and Jacob Fatu team together to face the strange bedfellows in LA Knight, Royce Keys, and Solo Sikoa, and The Bella Twins team with Paige to face Fatal Influence.

Even In Defeat, Nick Aldis Put On An Incredible Performance

In a performance that stole the night, Nick Aldis put on an incredible showing against Gunther in his first WWE match. Although owning much of the match against him, The Man Who Ended John Cena’s Career was just too much for him, and he tapped in the middle of the ring, leaving fans disappointed but all the better for seeing one of the best of his generation compete against the Career Killer.

When speaking to TheSportster earlier this week, Aldis said that he felt Gunther was underestimating him and his ability in the ring, and he proved him and any other doubter wrong by an unwavering and relentless fight. Aldis sets the standard for himself in WWE, and we are more than a little excited to see more from him in the ring.

Brie Bella Injured In Her Six-Woman Tag Team Match, Triple H Confirms To TheSportster

During the six-woman tag team match between The Bella Twins and Paige against Fatal Influence, Brie Bella took a bump on the outside of the ring early on that appeared to cause an injury to her right shoulder. During the end of the match, when Nikki Bella turned on Paige, Brie was noticeably clutching her shoulder and did not partake in the attack portion, rolling out of the ring carefully as the heel turn set in with the crowd.

During the post-show press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was asked by TheSportster for an update on her status. Triple H confirmed that Bella was injured but could not provide an update on her status.

She’s injured. I don’t have an update yet. She was here, got some treatment here, has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done. So, don’t have a clean answer on it yet. I know she hurt her shoulder. It seems pretty bad. But I don’t have that answer yet. Hopefully we will soon and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we thought it was. But that’s the nature of the game, and we’ll pivot accordingly for everything. It’s unfortunate, I hate it, it’s part of our business. “I think tonight that was the only serious thing that came out of this. Talent make things look easy, all of it, and sometimes the most complex things that make people go, ‘Oh my god that looked so dangerous, they were gonna get hurt,’ that’s not the stuff that hurts you sometimes, it’s just you fall down the wrong way, there’s lapse of judgment, whatever it is. “This is a dangerous business and for the most part, I don’t think anybody leaves here unscathed in some manner. We hate it and we do everything we possibly can… it’s just a part of what we do, and it’s an unfortunate part of what we do. The beautiful thing about what we do is we do everything possible to minimize that risk. But it’s still a physical business. So hopefully she’ll be good.
