Nick Aldis’ Real Life Marriage to a WWE and TNA Legend
For casual wrestling fans, there’s a good chance you never heard of Nick Aldis until the day he arrived on SmackDown over three years ago as the new General Manager of WWE‘s Friday night brand. Since then, Aldis has become popular with those who once were unaware of him thanks to his character’s desire to be fair while never backing down from anyone. He recently showed that in his feud with Gunther, which was rewarded with a SummerSlam match. The extra attention has the WWE Universe discovering Aldis’ impressive wrestling past, along with who he’s married to in real life. When Nick Aldis gets home, it’s none other than WWE and TNA legend Mickie James who’s there to greet him.
Nick Aldis and Mickie James Are Both Multi-Time World Champions

Aldis was a big fish in a smaller pond. Mickie James made it all the way to the ocean. Debuting in WWE in 2005, James was quickly put in a program with Trish Stratus. She played her obsessive character to perfection and was so impressive as both a wrestler and entertainer that she won six world titles in WWE. After going to TNA, she won five more world championships there and is now a TNA Hall of Famer. It was in TNA that the Aldis and James met and fell in love.

In a 2020 interview with Chris Van Vliet, Nick Aldis talked about being stunned the first time Mickie James walked by him backstage. The feeling was mutual. While getting ready for a photo shoot, Aldis walked past the ring where Mickie was practicing with Lisa Marie Varon and Al Snow.
“I get to the point where she thought I was obviously out of ear shot, and she goes, ‘I’m a-lookin’ and I’m a-likin.’ I just, like, stopped and turned, like, and I remember, she obviously, then she was like, ‘Oh my God.'”
Back in January, Mickie James told WrestlingNewsCo about that first encounter.
“Of course, I looked, because how could you not, he’s a handsome man, right?”
Mickie and Lisa Marie recalled that Aldis’ face got bright red, while Al Snow rolled his eyes and joked that women were worse than men.
Nick Aldis and Mickie James Are Married and Have a Son Together

“[Aldis] was at a show that day. I went back to the hotel to take a nap because I was tired…I kind of sent him the news right before he was about to go out. He was like, ‘Thanks a lot!’ It was a picture. He didn’t believe me at first. He thought I was lying and trying to rib him because we had been joking around all day about silly things. I said, ‘I wouldn’t joke about this.’ We had a romantic dinner that night and talked about everything. It was pretty awesome actually.”
A year later, on New Year’s Eve 2015, Nick Aldis and Mickie James became husband and wife. Aldis mentioned in his Chris Van Vliet interview that Donovan would go to wrestling show tapings. In February 2026, the eleven-year-old was even used in a TNA segment, where The Elegance Brand had him backstage and his mother ran to the back in an attempt to get him, only for her to get attacked. Donovan has also been part of his father’s journey back to the ring. In a recent interview, Aldis said that his son had been filming his training workouts for a future documentary.
The couple is so close that it was only a few years ago when they competed in a mixed tag team match against fellow wrestling couple Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green. Nick Aldis and Mickie James may work in different companies at the moment, but it’s clear they have a happy and healthy relationship in their three-person family.
