Details About Pac’s Passing Revealed, May Be Weeks Until We Know More

The wrestling world remains in a state of shock after news broke late on Sunday revealing Benjamin Satterley, AEW’s Pac, had passed away. Pac was only 40 and had wrestled at All Out just 24 hours earlier. The first details surrounding his death have now been revealed.

First Details Surrounding Pac’s Passing

Pac was spotted slumped in a rental car by a passerby at around 4 pm on Sunday in Des Plaines, Illinois, around one mile away from the airport and 23.5 miles away from the Now Arena where All Out had taken place the night before, reports The Daily Herald. Naturally concerned, the person who found Pac called the police. When they arrived, it became clear that Pac had passed away, and he was pronounced dead at 4:08 pm.

Pac was alone in the car when he was found, and there were no signs of foul play, nor is his death being treated as suspicious. However, exactly what caused his death remains unknown. An autopsy has already been performed, but nothing has been determined at this stage. A spokesperson from the medical examiner’s office issued a statement noting that it could take weeks for test results to return and a cause of death to be determined.

AEW’s Dynamite Will Be A Pac Tribute Show

Tony Khan led a ten-bell salute in honor of Pac during Monday night’s Ring of Honor tapings. The AEW owner also confirmed that this Wednesday’s Dynamite will be a tribute show dedicated to the late wrestler. Many of Pac’s friends and peers are still in a state of shock, understandably, and tributes continue to pour in from all corners of the industry.

Marina Shafir was one of the first to publicly react to Pac’s passing. Not only because she competed on a show on Sunday and addressed fans mere moments after the news broke, but because she was a close friend of Pac’s and was there at ringside for what wound up being the former NXT Champion’s final appearance.

Triple H is also among the many to have shared their thoughts and feelings about Pac on social media. The Game pointed to just how important Pac was in laying those first few building blocks in NXT as one of the brand’s first World Champions. So many wrestlers with whom Pac competed on 205 Live have been highlighting just how important he was to the cruiserweight brand too. Pac brought legitimacy to the show that put it on the map in ways it wouldn’t have been otherwise. An incredible wrestler who contributed so much to the business, and still hard to believe he’s gone.
