El Grande Americano Def. Dominik Mysterio For AAA Mega Championship At Triplemanía 34

El Grande Americano reaches the top of the mountain.

Closing out night two of Lucha Libre AAA’s Triplemanía 34 event was Dominik Mysterio defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano in a No Disqualification match.

Mysterio had been champion for a year, and it was his fourth defense of the belt.

Dominik’s factionmate in The Judgment Day, J.D. McDonagh, got involved, but coming into the fold to offset him were Los Americanos (Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano). Bravo climbed to the top of the stage and dove onto McDonagh and the security guards below.

The next name to get involved was Omos, who is aligned with Mysterio as part of El Ojo. El Grande tried to take the fight to Omos, but the giant beat him down.

Joining the mix was former WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, fresh off losing the belt to Stephanie Vaquer at a house show in Santiago, Chile. She was there to help Dominik retain.

The referee ended up being knocked down, and Americano hit Dominik with his torpedo headbutt. There was no referee, so AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio jetted to the ring in a neck brace and a referee shirt. On night one of Triplemanía, Rey was put on a stretcher after losing to Omos and being on the receiving end of a post-match attack. Omos also put Rey through a table.

Going back to the title match on night two, Rey made the three-count, and Americano was crowned the new champion.
