WWE gives storyline update on Kendal Grey following NXT Heatwave 2026

Former WWE NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey has now been ruled out of action.

At the recent WWE NXT Heatwave, Kelani Jordan defeated Grey to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.

Later, on the September 1, 2026 episode of WWE NXT, commentator Vic Joseph shared the storyline update on Grey’s absence. Joseph noted that Grey was suffering from a case of vertigo after being shoved into the steel ring post headfirst.

Grey is also experiencing equilibrium issues because of an ear injury she suffered in an NXT Underground match against Lola Vice. Joseph added that while concussion issues were ruled out by WWE’s medical team, they found disruption in Grey’s vestibular system, which controls her balance and awareness. Due to this, Grey is now out of NXT for the foreseeable future.

She had previously defeated Vice to earn the title. Grey held it for nearly 63 days before losing it to Jordan at WWE NXT Heavwave. While now out of action, Grey had three title defenses in her reign,
