Tony Khan Says He Would Have Supported Adam Copeland (Edge) vs. John Cena Match Wrestling News Source – Latest WWE, AEW, Pro Wrestling News, AEW All In: London 2026 Results

Tony Khan has revealed he would have been open to allowing Adam Copeland to face John Cena during Cena’s retirement tour if a genuine proposal had been made.

Copeland recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and discussed the possibility of facing his longtime rival one final time before Cena retired from the ring in 2025.

The AEW star said that if the decision had been down to himself and Cena, the match would have happened. However, with Copeland signed to AEW and Cena competing for WWE, the two were unable to add another chapter to their famous rivalry.

Copeland also made it clear that no serious discussions took place. However, he believed Khan would have “absolutely” approved the match if the opportunity had been presented. Copeland suggested WWE may have been the more difficult side of the equation.

Speaking with Metro, Khan was asked directly about Copeland’s comments and confirmed he would have been willing to consider the idea.

“I was never asked, and as far as I know, Adam was never asked, so it’s hard to say. But when there have been opportunities to collaborate, I have been collaborative in the past,” Khan said.

“I never got asked, but if I had been presented a plan and the dates and the information of what was going on, yeah, I would have supported it.”

Copeland, known as Edge throughout his WWE career, was one of Cena’s most memorable rivals. Their rivalry became a major part of WWE programming during the 2000s and helped establish Copeland’s Rated-R Superstar character as one of the company’s biggest villains.

Despite their history, fans never got to see Cena and Copeland meet in the ring one final time. The pair did, however, acknowledge and pay tribute to each other from their respective promotions.

Cena ultimately wrestled his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025, losing to Gunther to bring his legendary in-ring career to an end.

Meanwhile, Copeland is preparing for another major moment in his own career this weekend.

At AEW All In on Sunday, August 30, Copeland will finally compete at Wembley Stadium, something he has previously described as being on his wrestling bucket list.

Copeland and Christian will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks at the pay-per-view.

Khan also praised the importance of British wrestling fans to AEW and made it clear the company intends to continue running major events in the UK.

“I really believe that the English wrestling fans have been instrumental in growing the worldwide popularity of AEW, and London may be the very best city for AEW,” Khan said.

“So I absolutely will continue bringing AEW here to London, and also I look forward to visiting other cities in England. We debuted in Manchester last year. I think there are more opportunities to visit all the great cities around the UK, because there are so many great wrestling fans here in the United Kingdom.”
