AEW EVPs Unlikely To Sign New Contracts Once Current Deals Expire

There are certain wrestlers so synonymous with the DNA of certain companies that it’s hard to imagine them anywhere else, or the company without them. The Young Bucks are that to AEW, yet a new report claims that once their current contracts expire, they may not sign new ones.

The Young Bucks Might Not Have Much Ring Time Left

That’s according to the latest from Wrestling Observer Radio. Although some might roll their eyes when they hear Dave Meltzer speculate on the future of a pro wrestler, there are none the journalist has a closer relationship with than Matt and Nick Jackson. That’s why when he says there’s a strong possibility the pair don’t wrestle again after their current deals expire, it’s almost certainly true.

“I’ve heard it discussed that this might be their last contract. We’ll see what happens when the deal’s up,” Meltzer revealed on WOR. He added that Matt is in his 40s and that both he and his brother Nick are set for life should they decide to be done with pro wrestling. It was also noted that Kenny Omega could join them depending on how his body is feeling, but that Hangman Page is unlikely to follow in their footsteps due to being considerably younger.

The Internet Speculates On The Young Bucks’ Future

Meltzer didn’t suggest that Matt and Nick might go wrestle elsewhere. Quite the opposite, in fact. His suggestion is that, once The Young Bucks’ AEW deals expire, they won’t wrestle anywhere, AEW or otherwise. That hasn’t stopped the internet from wildly speculating, however, especially since this isn’t the first time this has been suggested.

Matt, who is, again, the older of the Young Bucks, has previously suggested that he might already be reaching the end of his career, even though in this day and age, 41 is still pretty young for a pro wrestler. Now that there’s a time on the horizon where he and Nick will have to decide whether to sign new deals, call it quits, or go elsewhere, Matt might finally pull the trigger and stop wrestling for real this time.

The Young Bucks were a part of the group that launched AEW in 2019. On the one hand, it’s almost impossible to imagine the promotion without them. Then again, many of us would have said the same thing about Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare was also a part of that core group that made AEW a reality. Now, not only is he a WWE Superstar, but after becoming WWE Champion and headlining multiple WrestleManias, the opposite has happened, and it’s now hard to imagine him back in AEW.
