Update on WWE plans for Raw & SmackDown tag team divisions
According to a recent report, WWE’s tag team divisions are getting a refresh.
Back in May, it was reported that WWE was looking to rebuild its tag team division following the departures of New Day, the Wyatt Sicks, and the Motor City Machine Guns as part of roster cuts after WWE WrestleMania 42.
According to a report this week from Fightful Select, Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiromu Takahashi, who was officially revealed on Friday’s SmackDown and will be going by the name Kyoki, are set to be positioned as top challengers in the SmackDown tag team division.
In a vignette on Friday’s SmackDown featuring Kyoki’s on-screen debut, Nakamura and Kyoki cut a promo on WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga.
The report also noted that Fraxiom is expected to receive increased television time.
Meanwhile, on Raw, Fightful reports that the team of Ethan Page and Rusev are expected to be featured more. However, it was also noted that the Creed Brothers have not been brought up as potential challengers to Austin Theory and Bron Breakker for the World Tag Team titles.
