WWE Smackdown Full Results : Toronto, ON - August 21, 2026

WWE SmackDown emanated live from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a loaded night of championship action, heated rivalries, and major developments heading into Sunday Night’s Main Event.

The show opened with the traditional “WWE Then. Now. Forever. Together.” introduction before the camera cut to the Toronto skyline. Joe Tessitore welcomed viewers to the show and immediately highlighted the night’s massive main event, where Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk would defend his championship against Kevin Owens.

A split-screen arrival shot showed both Punk and Owens backstage, setting the tone for a night where the WWE Championship would be on the line.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton Escalate Their Feud

The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton received immediate attention through a video package chronicling their increasingly personal feud.

Following the package, the cameras went backstage where Sami Zayn was visibly frustrated while confronting SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Zayn demanded justice and questioned why he had been overlooked despite continuing to compete through a broken hand.

Zayn specifically wondered whether Randy Orton’s presence was preventing him from receiving another opportunity.

Unknown to Zayn, Orton had quietly approached from behind.

Orton encouraged Zayn to continue speaking his mind, but their conversation was interrupted when Cody Rhodes appeared on a monitor inside the arena. Rhodes was already in the ring and clearly looking for Orton.

Aldis immediately walked away, while Orton followed shortly afterward. Zayn was left frustrated as Aldis made it clear that he wasn’t going to allow another confrontation between Rhodes and Orton to derail his show.

Orton eventually made his way to the ring and reminded Rhodes that they were scheduled to face each other at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta. Orton promised to defeat Rhodes in front of his family and in Rhodes’ hometown.

Rhodes wasn’t interested in waiting.

He challenged Orton to fight him immediately.

Orton appeared ready to accept the challenge, but Aldis stepped between the two men and laid down the law. Aldis said he was tired of the situation and made it clear that Rhodes and Orton could destroy each other at Sunday Night’s Main Event, but not before then.

Aldis issued a serious warning: if either man put their hands on the other before their scheduled match, neither would receive another opportunity at the world championship.

Orton agreed, explaining that there was no way he was going to jeopardize his quest to become a 15-time world champion.

He jokingly declared that everyone could now refer to him as “Mr. Professional.”

Orton then turned his attention toward Rhodes and revisited last week’s incident involving the steel chair. Orton claimed Rhodes had been moments away from smashing his head with the chair before being stopped.

According to Orton, Rhodes wasn’t incapable of doing it, he simply couldn’t live with himself afterward.

Orton contrasted himself with Rhodes, reminding him that when their positions were reversed, Orton had no hesitation about using the chair.

Orton argued that Rhodes was still a “good guy” and would always be one, claiming that Rhodes wasn’t really the American Nightmare but instead the “American Daydream.”

Rhodes responded by warning Orton that he was making a dangerous assumption about why Rhodes ultimately chose not to swing the chair.

Rhodes also addressed Orton’s obsession with becoming a 15-time world champion before delivering what he described as a spoiler rather than a prediction.

The stage was officially set for their showdown in Atlanta.

The MFTs Retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

The WWE Tag Team Championships were on the line next as the MFTs defended against former champions Damian Priest and R-Truth.

The champions were shown backstage wearing their face paint as they prepared for battle. Haku joined them with his trademark oversized walking cane and delivered a heavily censored declaration about who was running the tag team division.

After the commercial break, the MFTs made their way to the ring, with WWE replaying footage of their championship victory from the previous week.

The match began with an immediate physical exchange.

Priest and Tama Tonga became the first legal competitors, with Priest quickly taking control through a series of elbows and a powerful shoulder block. Tama was trapped in the corner as Priest unloaded on him before Truth entered the match and connected with a Stinger Splash.

Truth and Priest worked together to clear the champions from the ring before Truth delivered a plancha to Tama on the floor.

Priest continued the assault by sending Talla into the barricade, but the momentum eventually shifted.

Tama caught Truth with a Stun Gun before following with a sliding clothesline. The MFTs then isolated Truth and brought Talla into the match.

Following another commercial break, Talla continued working over Truth around ringside before returning him to the ring. The champions maintained control with quick tags and heavy strikes.

Truth eventually found an opening and managed to create enough separation to make the tag.

Priest exploded into the match and immediately went after Talla and Tama. He connected with a series of punches, a superkick and a combination of strikes in the corner.

Priest hit a lifting Flatliner on Tama before dropping Talla and following with a flying clothesline from the top rope.

Priest attempted to set up South of Heaven, but Talla fought out and countered with a clothesline.

The champions regained control and kept Priest trapped in their corner.

Eventually, Priest connected with a tornado kick and made the tag to Truth.

Truth attempted to unleash his usual finishing sequence and connected with a Five Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment, but Talla broke up the pinfall.

Priest attacked Talla and sent him outside before following with a leaping ax handle. However, the MFTs remained resilient.

Tama knocked Priest from the apron and Talla followed with a devastating chokeslam onto the apron.

Truth nearly stole the match with a roll-up on Tama, but Tama kicked out and answered with his twisting neckbreaker.

The champions then delivered their double-team finishing combination, with Tama attacking Truth’s leg while Talla followed with a boot.

Truth was unable to recover.

The MFTs scored the three-count and successfully retained their championships.

Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: The MFTs

CM Punk and Randy Orton Cross Paths

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviewed Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk ahead of his championship defense against Kevin Owens.

Punk discussed the pressure surrounding the match and suggested that he had evolved considerably while Owens remained essentially the same person he had been two decades earlier.

Randy Orton then appeared and reminded Punk that once he finished dealing with Cody Rhodes in Atlanta, his next goal would be capturing a 15th world championship.

Punk welcomed the possibility of facing Orton down the line before the show moved on.

Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton and Paige Collide

The show then revisited the situation involving Chelsea Green from the previous week.

Green now has 23 days remaining to defend her championship and was shown backstage pacing before Tiffany Stratton arrived.

Stratton was still dealing with injuries, and Green told her that she wanted to take her out of action that night.

Tiffany acknowledged that Green had attempted to help her the previous week, creating an uneasy dynamic between the two women.

Paige then approached the pair and explained that she understood what it was like to have an injury interfere with a career.

Fatal Influence soon arrived, leading to a verbal confrontation between the group.

Paige made it clear that she wanted an opportunity at the Women’s United States Championship, but the situation ended without a physical confrontation as the heels walked away.

Blake Monroe Attacks Giulia

Blake Monroe was interviewed backstage ahead of her highly anticipated in-ring debut against Giulia.

Monroe admitted that this wasn’t the debut she had envisioned. She believed she should have been competing for the WWE Women’s Championship rather than preparing to face a former friend.

Cathy Kelley complimented Monroe’s appearance, which Monroe happily accepted.

When Giulia made her way toward the ring, however, Monroe attacked her from behind before the bell could even ring.

Monroe drove Giulia into the ring steps and then threw her into the ring.

She immediately delivered the Neutralizer before leaving the arena.

The official debut never actually took place.

Winner: No Contest

Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Jade Cargill

Backstage, Charlotte Flair was seen celebrating Alexa Bliss’ birthday.

Tatum Paxley interrupted the conversation, prompting Flair to question what was happening.

Jade Cargill then arrived alongside B-Fab and Michin.

Cargill mocked Flair for needing what she described as a “freak show” to bail her out.

Flair fired back, claiming that the group was no threat and that she could handle B-Fab and Michin on her own.

Michin then challenged Tatum Paxley to a match for next week.

Paxley accepted.

Trick Williams and Lil Yachty Challenge Baron Corbin

Trick Williams and Lil Yachty made their way to the ring next.

Trick said he appreciated Yachty having his back, but pointed out that he still didn’t have his championship.

He accused Baron Corbin of avoiding him and challenged him to come down to the ring and face him.

Corbin eventually appeared on a motorcycle.

After entering the ring, Yachty stepped outside while Trick confronted Corbin about their history.

Trick demanded another championship opportunity.

Corbin refused.

He reminded Trick that they had already competed twice, with Corbin winning both matches. Corbin argued that Trick had nothing left to offer him.

Trick wasn’t willing to let the matter end there.

Lil Yachty suddenly attacked Corbin with a kendo stick.

Trick followed with a clothesline that sent Corbin out of the ring, while Yachty continued attacking him with the weapon.

Corbin eventually returned to the microphone and proposed a new stipulation.

At Sunday Night’s Main Event, Trick could get another championship opportunity, but only if Lil Yachty survived five minutes against Corbin first.

If Yachty won, Trick would get his opportunity.

If Corbin won, the issue would be finished.

Yachty accepted the challenge.

Kevin Owens Receives a Warning

Backstage, Kevin Owens was interviewed ahead of his championship opportunity against CM Punk.

Finn Balor interrupted and told Owens that he was happy to see him back but wished Owens had informed him that he was returning.

Gunther then entered the conversation.

Gunther warned Owens that the pressure would be immense if he captured the Undisputed WWE Championship in front of his hometown fans.

He also dismissed Balor as a shadow of his former self.

Gunther made it clear that if Owens won the championship, Owens would eventually have to deal with him.

After Gunther left, Owens jokingly questioned whether Gunther was angry or simply speaking with his usual accent.

Balor admitted that Gunther was angry but insisted that his priority remained winning the championship.

If Balor succeeded, he would be waiting for Owens on the other side.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Lash Legend

Tiffany Stratton entered the arena with her ribs taped as she prepared to face Lash Legend.

The match began with Stratton scoring an early dropkick before Lash answered with a powerful right hand and body slam.

Legend controlled Stratton with a bear hug and continued targeting her injured ribs.

Tiffany eventually created separation and connected with a backstabber, sending Lash outside.

Stratton attempted a suicide dive, but Legend caught her and drove her into the ring post.

After the commercial break, Lash remained in control with a suplex before missing an elbow drop.

Tiffany fought back with right hands and a stunner.

She attempted a Swanton from the top rope, but Lash moved out of the way.

Stratton nearly caught her with a roll-up, but Legend kicked out.

Tiffany climbed the ropes again, only for Lash to knock her down.

Legend then delivered the Lash Extension and scored the decisive pinfall.

Winner: Lash Legend

The post-match attack quickly escalated.

Nia Jax entered the ring and delivered a leg drop to the injured Stratton.

Jax and Legend then began double-teaming Tiffany.

Chelsea Green suddenly appeared with a kendo stick and attacked both women, forcing them out of the ring and bringing the segment to an end.

Shinsuke Nakamura Introduces His New Partner

A new cryptic vignette featuring Shinsuke Nakamura aired.

The King of Strong Style announced that he had found a tag team partner.

Nakamura introduced Kyoki, explaining that his new partner had been fighting around the world before joining him.

The announcement appears to signal the formation of a new tag team in WWE’s already competitive tag team division.

CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship

The night culminated with CM Punk defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens.

Both men made their entrances before Owens immediately shoved Punk during the champion’s entrance.

The referee separated them before finally calling for the bell.

Owens exploded out of the gate with right hands and a clothesline that sent Punk to the floor.

Punk returned to the ring and answered with strikes of his own, but Owens prevented a suplex attempt and instead lifted Punk onto the top rope.

The fight quickly spilled around ringside.

Owens cleared the announce table while Punk eventually returned to the ring and attempted to put the table back together.

Once both men returned to the squared circle, Owens connected with a senton before attempting the Stunner.

Punk countered with a neckbreaker.

Following a commercial break, Owens regained control and punished Punk with a clothesline and a series of right hands.

Owens sent Punk to the floor before following him and continuing the assault.

Back inside, Owens hit a cannonball and nearly scored the championship after a cover.

Owens then climbed to the top rope, but Punk escaped to the floor.

Owens followed with a superkick before climbing the barricade and delivering a frog splash onto Punk.

The challenger then returned Punk to the ring and followed with a Swanton Bomb.

Punk somehow kicked out.

Owens attempted the Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Punk landed on his feet and immediately responded with strikes.

Punk followed with a running knee and clothesline before connecting with a top-rope elbow.

He then attempted the Anaconda Vise.

Owens countered into a pinning combination, forcing Punk to kick out.

Punk hit another swinging neckbreaker before attempting the GTS.

Owens escaped and transitioned into the Sharpshooter.

Punk managed to reach the ropes.

The match then entered its most chaotic stage.

Owens attempted the Stunner, but Punk shoved him into the referee.

Punk attempted the GTS, only for Owens to push Punk into the official again, sending the referee to the floor.

Owens hit the Stunner and covered Punk, but there was nobody available to make the count.

Punk recovered and hit the GTS.

He covered Owens, but the referee was still down.

Then Sami Zayn appeared.

Zayn attacked Punk and drove him into the ring post before throwing him back inside.

Owens hit another Stunner.

Zayn then threw the referee into the ring.

Owens covered Punk, but the champion kicked out.

Zayn then grabbed the championship belt and handed it to Owens.

Owens looked at Zayn and refused to win the championship that way.

Owens handed the title back to Zayn.

Zayn then struck Owens with the championship.

With Owens down, Punk capitalized and hit the GTS.

This time, the referee made the count.

Winner and STILL Undisputed WWE Champion: CM Punk

Sami Zayn Turns His Anger Toward CM Punk and Kevin Owens

The celebration didn’t last long.

As Punk celebrated his successful title defense, Sami Zayn entered the ring carrying the championship.

Punk turned around and Zayn blasted him with the title.

Owens attempted to recover, but Zayn struck him as well.

Zayn then attacked Punk again with the championship before finally standing over both men.

Zayn screamed that Punk had stolen the championship from him.

The show ended with Zayn making his intentions unmistakably clear: he believes he has been robbed of the opportunity that should have belonged to him, and now both CM Punk and Kevin Owens have become targets of his anger.

SmackDown closed in chaotic fashion, leaving the Undisputed WWE Championship picture dramatically altered heading into Sunday Night’s Main Event.:::
