  • Sami Zayn opens the show arguing with Nick Aldis about his title loss, and says that it’s an injustice that he lost. Zayn blames Aldis and says that he’s put so many obstacles in front of him before getting back. Zayn says no matter what’s thrown in front of him, he continues to succeed, and asks Aldis what business Randy Orton has in this. Before Orton can respond, Cody Rhodes is in the ring and demands Orton come out. As Zayn continues to berate Aldis, Orton tells Zayn they’ll handle business later. Aldis tries to intervene between Orton and Rhodes, and after the two continue to argue, Rhodes demands that Orton fight him tonight. Aldis tells them they’re not doing this again. Aldis tells them that they can fight at Sunday Night’s Main Event, and if they fight before their match, he tells them they’ll never get another shot at the WWE Championship. Orton tells Aldis that he won’t attack him, and then addresses Rhodes for not smashing the chair on his head. He asks him if he expects them all to believe that the officials stopped him from hitting him with the chair. Orton says he knows how to take it to the limit, but Rhodes is a good guy, and he’s not going to be the one who kills the legend of Randy Orton. Rhodes asks Orton that if he wins that 15th championship, he still comes back to him, the one who beats him. Rhodes then tells Orton that his statement isn’t a prediction, it’s a spoiler.
  • CM Punk is speaking with Cathy Kelley about his match tonight, but Randy Orton shows up and gives him a warning. He says after he beat Rhodes, he’ll be coming for his 15th win. Punk says he’s looking forward to it.
  • Chelsea Green is backstage and apologizing to Tiffany Stratton about what happened last week, and while Stratton tells her that it’s okay, she doesn’t want her to jeopardize herself again. Paige appears and tells Green that she was inspired by her speech until Fatal Influence interrupted and tells Green they’ll be taking her belt, too. Paige tells Jacy Jayne she’d like to take her Women’s United States Championship from her tonight.
  • Trick Williams comes to the ring and demands that Baron Corbin come to the ring and stop ducking him. Corbin comes to the ring, and Williams tells him he wants another shot at the championship. Corbin reminds him that he’s beaten him twice and it’s not going to happen again. Lil Yachty hits Corbin with a kendo stick and as Corbin leaves the ring, he tells Williams that he’ll give him his rematch but only if Yachty survives five minutes with Corbin in the ring. Yachty accepts and their match is set for Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Did Cody Rhodes Just Reveal Himself As A Paul Heyman Guy?

Cody Rhodes is the perpetual good guy of WWE, the QB1, the consistent North Star of the men’s division, and while the entirety of the IWC is clamoring for Rhodes to turn dark, it never seems like it’s going to quite come to fruition. During his segment with Randy Orton tonight, Rhodes dropped a very familiar line, one made famous by Paul Heyman, which now begs the question: Why did Cody Rhodes say that specific phrase?

It’s no secret that Heyman’s a big fan of Rhodes, but there’s been no previous indication that the two would ever align in any capacity, let alone in his quest to topple Orton. It’s a unique seed to be planted in this story, and with Heyman running interference between Oba Femi and Bron Breakker on Monday nights, WWE could have him play double duty while ushering a new era for the American Nightmare.
