First match set for WWE SmackDown next week
WWE has booked its first match for the August 28 episode of SmackDown
A backstage segment on tonight’s show set up that Tatum Paxley, who was called up from NXT a couple of weeks ago, will have her first SmackDown match next week when she faces off against Michin. Paxley has aligned herself with Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, evening things up against the heel trio of Jade Cargill, B-Fab & Michin.
The heels insulted Paxley by calling her a “freak show” during a confrontation tonight, and Michin wanted to see what Paxley could do against her one-on-one. An excited Paxley accepted the challenge for her SmackDown in-ring debut. Paxley was also happy that Charlotte, who has been reluctant to accept her, had her back in the confrontation.
Paxley held the NXT Women’s Championship and Women’s North American Championship one time each during her time on the brand.
SmackDown won’t be live next week, with WWE instead taping the show at Raw in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada this coming Monday. There will then be Raw/SmackDown tapings in Cleveland next Friday in advance of Labor Day week.
As of now, there have been no other announcements for the SmackDown that will air on August 28.
