Mercedes Mone ‘very happy’ to be in AEW
As she prepares for All In 2026, Mercedes Mone remains “very happy” to be part of the AEW roster.
Daily Star interviewed Mone ahead of the August 30 pay-per-view and asked about the freedom she has in AEW compared to what she experienced in WWE. This feeling of being free is something Mone has always wanted, and she believes it’s helped make her in-ring work better.
“It’s been amazing. It’s been so rewarding for me and just kind of freeing,” Mone said. “I’ve always wanted that feeling of feeling free. And I feel like this has been the best I’ve ever been able to perform because I have that capability and that ability to have that freedom of just — whether that’s putting matches together and performing differently or having a different mindset or not having people tell you ‘no’ or being scared to tell something and then you will be told no. It’s just a freedom. And I’m very happy to be here, and I hope that shows in my work. But, yeah, I think it shows in my matches how free I feel and how great I feel in AEW.”
Mone said she believes AEW has the best women’s division “ever” and loves stepping into the ring with everyone else on the roster. With the competition that exists, everyone is pushing each other to be the best they can be.
Mercedes Mone still learning and growing —
Despite being such an established presence at this point, Mone feels like she’s still constantly growing. There are so many “amazing” women coming into the wrestling business. Mone knows she needs to keep improving to avoid getting passed by.
“I feel like I’m never going to stop learning and growing. I feel like that’s the main thing, is not being content and not being like, ‘I know everything.’ I don’t know everything. And I still want to learn,” she said. “And we have so many people that I get to learn from. So it’s still for me is wanting to learn and wanting to grow and wanting to be better. And not being like, ‘Okay, I’m the best women’s wrestler. Now what?’ No, I’m the best women’s wrestler and I still have to prove that every single day. Because these women are coming after me and coming into this business every single day.”
Mone will attempt to finally capture the AEW Women’s World Championship when she challenges Willow Nightingale for the title at All In. The PPV is being held in London at Wembley Stadium, which is where Mone made her first-ever AEW appearance in 2023 before she was even signed with the company.
