NJPW posts video retrospective on the career of Hiroyoshi Tenzan – POST Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling has released a video retrospective on the career of Hiroyoshi Tenzan before his retirement this weekend.

The 55-year-old will end his in-ring career on Saturday’s G1 Climax show at Ryogoku Kokugikan in a five-minute exhibition match with Satoshi Kojima.

A video covering his career since 1991 has been released by NJPW and narrated by Walker Stewart.

Tenzan was a four-time IWGP heavyweight champion, held the IWGP tag titles on twelve occasions, and won the G1 Climax three times. He became the second back-to-back winner of the G1 in 2003 & 2004, following in the steps of Masahiro Chono and repeated by Kota Ibushi.

He was part of two of New Japan’s biggest tag teams, first with Chono and later with Kojima. He won eleven of his twelve tag titles with those two and another reign with the late Osamu Nishimura.

Tenzan has not wrestled in over a year and has been ravaged by injuries over the course of his career. His match with Kojima is listed as the main event of Saturday’s show.
