Report: Chelsea Green to maintain champ status despite injury – POST Wrestling

A recent injury scare won’t cause an end to Chelsea Green’s reign as WWE Women’s Champion, it seems.

Just days after earning the interim WWE Women’s Championship at Summerslam, Green suffered a broken orbital bone during a Smackdown tag match. It was unclear immediately following the injury how severe a setback it would be, and how much it could affect her first-ever major title reign in WWE.

A new report from WrestleVotes on Fightful Select says that, while Green is expected to be out of action for weeks, WWE doesn’t plan to strip her of champ status due to the injury. Instead, they are expected to keep her on TV and have her title reign continue while she’s on the sidelines.
