Big Cass’ Real Life Marriage to This AEW Star
During his first run in WWE, Big Cass looked like he was going to be a big star. For a time, he was as part of his tag team run with Enzo Amore. However, when the pair split, Cass struggled and personal demons brought his time in WWE to a premature end. After taking control of his life and transforming his body, Big Cass was reborn as Big Bill in AEW. His time in All Elite Wrestling may not have lived up to its full potential, but it was certainly no waste. Not only did his talent and passion lead him back to WWE, but it’s also where he married the love of his life.
Big Cass Struggled With Alcoholism and Depression
- Big Cass and Enzo Amore were one of WWE’s most popular tag teams.
- Cass and Amore failed as singles acts.
- After being fired by WWE, William Morrissey suffered a terrifying seizure at a fan event.
Vince McMahon loved his larger-than-life superstars. So, when WWE hired the nearly 7-foot-tall William Morrissey in 2011, he had a promising future. When, as Big Cass, he was paired with Enzo Amore in NXT, the tag team became a developmental sensation. Their charisma, carried by an exciting entrance and energetic promos, carried them all the way to the main roster. Although they never won tag team gold, Cass and Enzo were hugely over with the crowd. As WWE often does, they eventually got bored and split the act up. Both men failed on their own and were soon gone from the company.
For Cass, a singles run without Enzo fell flat. He also looked out of his league as Daniel Bryan’s first feud back from injury. In 2018, he suffered a real-life fall from grace. He was first fired by WWE. Months later, at a wrestling fan event, he suffered a terrifying seizure that made worldwide headlines. The seizure was brought on by Cass’ alcoholism. He was dangerously close to becoming another wrestler dead before his time, but was saved in part by a legend with a stepdaughter who noticed him.
Lexy Nair’s Stepfather Is WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page
- DDP Yoga helped struggling former wrestlers like Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Scott Hall.
- Big Cass lived with DDP for a time.
- Nair was living with Diamond Dallas Page when Cass would come around.
The man who helped save Big Cass was none other than Diamond Dallas Page. DDP is a WCW legend and a WWE Hall of Famer. He’s just as well known for the wrestlers he helped through his DDP Yoga. Documentaries have shown how he helped and turned around legends such as Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Scott Hall. He also took in Big Cass at his lowest point. In a video on the DDP Yoga YouTube channel, Big Cass spoke about his struggles.
“I am sitting here right now and telling you that I should be dead with the amount that I drank, and the seizure that I had – I shouldn’t be here.” (h/t Cageside Seats)
DDP helped save Big Cass’ life, and through Page’s stepdaughter, Cass found someone to spend it with. DDP’s stepdaughter is AEW interviewer Lexy Nair. Before she ever got into wrestling, she was living with her stepdad when her future husband walked in. In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Nair said:
“So he came by, and I was in my bathrobe, no makeup, my hair was crazy, and I was like, ‘You guys couldn’t have given me the 411 that there was this super cute, tall, jacked guy coming and staying with us for the weekend? Are you kidding me?’ We were friends, I was trying to play it cool, but I was totally thrown off, I ran upstairs, I got ready, I came back downstairs trying to act all cool. We just developed this really great friendship at first, and it ultimately ended up turning into a romance, and we haven’t looked back since. That was almost seven years ago, which is crazy.” (h/t F4WOnline)
Big Cass and Lexy Nair Got Married in 2024
- Nair started working for AEW as an interviewer in 2020.
- Cass became W. Morrisey in Impact Wrestling before becoming Big Bill in AEW.
- He made his return to WWE as Big Cass in August 2026.
Big Cass and Lexy Nair began dating in the spring of 2021. At the same time, after fixing his health and getting jacked to the gills, Cass showed up in Impact Wrestling as W. Morrissey. Tony Khan noticed, and in May 2022, Big Bill was born in AEW. His All Elite Wrestling run wasn’t all it could have been, but he did win tag team gold with Ricky Starks, and fans saw how physically impressive his body had become. He also got to work with his girlfriend, who had been hired as an interviewer by the promotion in 2020.
2022 was a great year for the rechristened Big Bill. Not only was he back in the spotlight as a professional wrestler, but he proposed to Lexy in December 2022. Two years later, they became husband and wife.
While Lexy’s career continues in AEW, Big Bill has once again become Big Cass in WWE. Who knows how far he’ll go this time. No matter what happens, with his demons slayed and a supportive wife by his side, William Morrisey has already won.
